how to receive msgs in a channel?

I am a beginner of irssi , I have connected to a server and joined to a channel room,
But I find I have received none messages in this room ,does it need a command to
touch all the megs in a room?

If nobody is talking, you won't see anything =) or perhaps have you been kicked of the said room ?

Just type your message in the text box at the bottom and press enter/return.

I typed my msg and type enter ,but it seems that the room had not receive my msg .
i find a line when joining in a channel : Irssi: ##kernel: Total of 202 nicks [1 ops, 0 halfops, 0 voices, 201 normal]
what does these mean?

I typed into /names ,it shows to me this line: Irssi: ##kernel: Total
of 201 nicks [1 ops, 0 halfops, 0 voices, 200 normal]

no symbol beside any username.

how can I set channel mode to receive all user's msgs?

Not sure why you cced kernel-newbies there. That error is most likely
because the mute mode is set on the channel meaning anyone without
voice status cannot talk. Most likely you're in a channel where nobody
else has voice either so they can't talk. Try type /names. A + (plus)
beside their name or any other symbol would indicate voice capacity.
This isn't really related to irssi at this stage, this is just plain
irc. I'd recommend reading up on some basics of irc first.

Try connecting to irc.freenode.net, join channel #help and enter a message.
